Popular electric cars mix-up, ARCFOX α S / BYD Han EV / Xpeng P7 / Model 3 / ZEEKR 001, who better to choose?

For electric vehicles, consumers buy them in three aspects, brand, intelligence and range, around these three perspectives, there are not many products available for everyone to choose from. Take the sedan for example, the Polar ARCFOX α S, BYD Han EV, Xpeng P7, Tesla Model 3 and the Polar ZEEKR 001, are all familiar faces. However, when it comes to choosing among so many products, I believe that many people are not quite sure who is better to choose?

For this reason, we have chosen the models of α S, Tesla Model 3, BYD Han EV and Xpeng P7, which are all priced at around 240,000 yuan: α S 2021 708S+ 160kW, Model 3 2022 rear wheel drive version, Han EV 2020 ultra-long range version luxury and Xpeng P7 2022 625E; ZEEKR 001 Since it has a relatively high price threshold itself, we chose its entry model: ZEEKR 001 2023 WE Edition 100kWh, to start a comparison with the above players.

 

Styling-wise, the ARCFOX α S is slightly different from the regular sedan, mainly due to its higher ground clearance than the regular sedan, while its front end retains the traditional air intake grille area. Other aspects, hidden door handles, through-lighting strips and coupe styling, are all present on it.

Tesla Model 3 uses a minimalist concept and the whole car is also coupe-like in design. The closed front, slender body and slightly upturned duck tail all look nice and sporty and are part of a design approach that the public can accept.

The BYD Han EV reveals a sense of atmosphere with youth and technology in its appearance. The slender body contour, together with the outline of the metal trim and the iconic through-tail light, visually brings a little more elegance.

The design of the Xpeng P7 belongs to the more avant-garde, technological type, especially the design of the front ring headlights, rear penetrating tail lights, plus the slender body, unique body proportions, also belongs to the more difficult to refuse type.

 

The ZEEKR 001 is the only crossover among these 5 models. The individual design of the hunting car, coupled with the individual split headlights, the bulging muscle lines on the hood, and the rather recognizable taillights, clearly have a stronger appeal to users who pursue individuality.

The interior design of the five models is very different, α S and Xpeng P7 have some similarities, the steering wheel of these two cars are two-spoke design, and the bottom is equipped with a dual-link screen. The slight difference is that the α S has some more digital textures decorating the interior, while the Xpeng P7 is embellished with metal trim.

Both the Han EV and the ZEEKR 001 have the shadow of traditional models, with the Han EV using a lot of leather and piano lacquer materials inside to highlight the sense of class, and retaining the traditional gear knob. The ZEEKR 001 has a wrap-around layout, and the interior materials are mostly leather and fleece, and is equipped with an electronic shifter.

 

The Tesla Model 3 is the most unique of them all, only it is not equipped with a dashboard, but will be all the vehicle information within the center screen. This design looks quite individual, but it also takes a while to get used to.

In terms of vehicle intelligence, all five models are equipped with their own in-vehicle intelligent system and assisted driving operating system, and the richness and fluency of the car system has reached the mainstream level, but there is still room for improvement in the performance of the Tesla Model 3 in terms of voice recognition function. Hardware monitoring, Han EV performance is slightly inferior, other models in addition to the Xpeng P7 is not equipped with in-car camera, the rest of the model performance is not too much.

Seat comfort and function part, Tesla Model 3 and Han EV for imitation leather package, Xpeng P7 and ZEEKR 001 are leather material package, α S is leather + imitation leather two materials. In terms of function, the common front seats are electrically adjustable in all five vehicles. On this basis, the ZEEKR 001 performs a little better, also equipped with front seat heating/ventilation/memory/massage function; α S is second, equipped with front seat heating, ventilation and main driver seat memory; Tesla Model 3 is equipped with full seat heating and main driver seat memory; Han EV only main driver with heating, ventilation function; Xpeng P7 is front seat support heating, main driver seat with ventilation, memory. The P7 has heated front seats and a ventilated driver's seat with memory, while the boss button is only available on the EV and the ZEEKR 001.

 

The body size part, Tesla Model 3 and Xpeng P7 positioning is a medium-sized car, the remaining three cars are medium to large cars. In addition to the size of the Tesla Model 3 is considered to belong to the category of medium-sized cars, the size of the rest of the models are considerable, their length is about 4.9 meters, the wheelbase is also more than 2.9 meters, the wheelbase of the ZEEKR 001 also more than 3 meters. So in terms of space, the Tesla Model 3 will be inferior compared to the rest of the four models.

Next we will focus on their range and performance up. One by one, the only ones with a range of more than 700 km are α S and ZEEKR 001, of which α S is equipped with SK's ternary lithium battery, with a battery capacity of 93.6kWh and a battery energy density of 194.1Wh/kg, with a fast charge of 0.6 hours and a slow charge of 15.5 hours, which can bring a pure electric range of 708 km. The ZEEKR 001 is equipped with Ningde Time's ternary lithium battery, with a capacity of 100kWh and a battery energy density of 176.6Wh/kg, which can achieve a pure electric range of 741km, slightly better than the α S.

The range between 600-700 km is Han EV and Xpeng P7, Han EV is equipped with its own developed blade battery (lithium iron phosphate battery), with a capacity of 76.9kWh, fast charging 0.42 hours, slow charging 10.99 hours, the pure electric range that can be achieved is 605 km. Xpeng P7 is equipped with ternary lithium batteries from Ningde Time, AVIC Lithium, and Yiwei Lithium, with a capacity of 77.9kWh, a battery energy density of 160Wh/kg, and a pure electric range of 625km.

Tesla Model 3 is the only model of which the range is not more than 600 km, it is equipped with Ningde Time's lithium iron phosphate battery, capacity 60kWh, battery energy density 126Wh/kg, fast charging 1 hour, slow charging 10 hours, can bring the pure electric range of 556 km.

Power output part, α S and Han EV are front drive drive, front drive plus they are equipped with electric motor output power is not high, so they have 8.3 seconds, 7.9 seconds 0-100km / h acceleration results. The remaining three vehicles are rear drive, Tesla Model 3 has the best 0-100km/h score of 6.1 seconds; Xpeng P7 and ZEEKR 001 are about the same, with the former at 6.7 seconds and the latter at 6.9 seconds.

Summing up.

Comprehensive view, the pole ARCFOX α S, Xpeng P7 and pole ZEEKR 001 the three new power models slightly better performance, Tesla Model 3 range configuration are worse meaning, Han EV is in the intelligent driving assistance lack of discourse. The performance of the three slightly better cars, the pole ZEEKR 001 price is slightly higher, so in my opinion the pole ARCFOX α S and Xpeng P7 more sincere. Who is better to choose? Personally, I prefer the α S, after all, it has a longer range, what do you think?
