A few days ago, Porsche held a communication meeting on electric drive technology, during which some information on the Porsche Macan EV model was announced.
According to the official statement, the Porsche Macan EV will be built on the PPE platform, and is the first pure electric SUV built by Porsche based on the PPE platform. 800V battery architecture and high-voltage fast charging technology will not be absent, and delivery is planned for 2024.
Officially, the Porsche PPE platform supports both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive layouts, but the Porsche Macan EV will only be available in a four-wheel drive version, matching the attributes of a sporty car.
The two motors are also technically interesting, belonging to a new generation of hairpin-wound permanent magnet synchronous motor system with optimized winding structure and cooling system, thus achieving stronger power parameters. According to the official statement, the Porsche Macan EV has a combined maximum power of 450kW and a peak torque of over 1000N-m.
In terms of weight distribution, the Macan EV will be able to achieve a 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution, with a slightly more rearward center of gravity, and will be offered with wheels up to 22 inches in size, thus ensuring sportiness and handling.
In addition, the new car will also support rear wheel steering, with the rear wheel steering angle up to 5 degrees. When the speed is lower than 80km/h, the front and rear wheels will turn in the opposite direction, which can reduce the turning radius by 1 meter and make it easier to stop and turn around.
Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) will not be absent either. The rear axle is equipped with an electronically controlled differential lock that can automatically adjust the torque output of the left and right rear wheels to adapt to the needs of different road conditions.
It is worth mentioning that the Porsche Macan EV will also be equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and air springs, which support soft and hard adjustment functions to meet diversified needs; in addition, the system will also automatically adjust the body height during driving, especially at high speed cruising to reduce wind resistance.
As for the battery, the battery pack of the Macan EV consists of 12 square modules with a total capacity of about 100kWh, and under LI conditions, it takes only 25 minutes to replenish the power from 5% to 80%. There is even a "combination charging" function.
