The Han family will push the second anniversary OTA with six new features in August
A few days ago, BYD officially announced that its Han family will push the second anniversary OTA, this OTA will start on July 29th to open a small-scale user internal test and the first batch of the media test drive, and from August onwards, each model will start the official push in batches.
From the official list, including 2021 Han EV, 2021 Han DM, Han EV Genesis Edition, Han DM-i, Han DM-p, and Han EV Qianshancui Limited Edition are on the OTA upgrade list.
After this upgrade, the BYD Han family will add dTCS distributed traction control system, HWA high-speed driving assistance function, DiTrainer coaching mode, NVH active sound, all-scene intelligent voice, and intelligent up and down power function. However, because the models are configured differently, the specific upgraded features will also be slightly different. The following author will explain these functions in detail.
dTCS distributed traction control system
Only the 4WD system can be upgraded with a dTCS distributed traction control system, including the 4WD version of Han EV, the 4WD version of Han EV Genesis Flagship Edition/Thousand Hills Cui Limited Edition, and Han DM-p.
Officially, the most important feature of the dTCS distributed traction control system is that it can improve the tire grip performance. Meanwhile, the dTCS distributed traction control system can also avoid the excessive speed of both drive wheels caused by the delay of motor torque control, which leads to the wear of differential, for the situation that half of the wheels are on high adhesion road and half are on low adhesion road.
In short, after the BYD Han family 4WD version is upgraded with a dTCS distributed traction control system, the power distribution of the 4WD system will be more reasonable, and the safety factor and driving stability will be improved.
HWA high-speed driving assistance function
HWA high-speed driving assistance function can be upgraded only for Han EV Genesis Edition, Han DM-i, Han DM-p and Han EV Qianshancui Limited Edition, which can be regarded as a more advanced assisted driving function, among which ICC Intelligent Pilot can perform cruise control and lane centering within the range of 0-130km/h to realize automatic car following.
ICC Intelligent Pilot ILCA interactive lane change control is also called lever lane change assist, in the speed range of 60-130km/h, with Intelligent Pilot mode on, the user only needs to toggle the steering lever, and the system will automatically control the vehicle to change lanes under the premise of ensuring safety.
From the official description, the old Han EV and Han DM should not have access to these functions because of the limitations of the assisted driving hardware; after this OTA, the Han family also ushers in more advanced assisted driving functions, which can effectively share the driver's fatigue when running at high speed and further improve driving safety.
DiTrainer coaching mode
DiTrainer coach mode is a very interesting feature that all the above-mentioned models can get after OTA; this feature can link the car terminal and cell phone terminal to generate a relevant evaluation and driving report based on the user's driving behavior analysis and set up achievement medals and master ring to help users develop a good driving habit. In addition, the function can remind users by voice in rainy and foggy weather, turn on the fog lights, and also remind users by voice to close the windows when driving at high speed.
The author believes that the DiTrainer coaching mode is actually a collection of driving behavior scores and safety care functions, which is necessary for novice drivers, especially those who are not familiar with vehicle-related functions.
NVH Active Sound
This function can also be upgraded only for Han EV Genesis Edition, Han DM-i, Han DM-p, and Han EV Qianshancui Limited Edition. Officially, this function draws on the timbre of the guzheng, a popular musical instrument of the Han Dynasty, to design the up and down electric sound and pedestrian warning sound, so that the prompt sound in the car is more humanized.
Full-scene intelligent voice
All-scene intelligent voice and NVH active sound function can be upgraded to maintain the same model, the central control screen new continuous dialogue, visible can say (support functions: intelligent voice assistant, media center, Bluetooth phone), four tone area function, in short, is to make the voice control function more useful.
After upgrading the function, the voice operation of the central control screen only needs once "Hello Xiaodi", which is more convenient to use; in addition, the system is also able to determine the passenger's prompt through sound positioning, for example, the passenger said open the window, then only the passenger's window will be opened. In addition, users can also set only the main driver can be operated by voice, so that the system will automatically filter out the voice commands of passengers in other positions.
Intelligent power up and down
After unlocking the car with the key, the user opens the left front door for the first time, enters the car, and presses the brake pedal to put the car in gear. After parking, users can not only press the start button to power down but also use the electronic key to lock and power down outside the car when the gear is in P. (When there are people or pets inside the car, only the car can be locked but not powered down), which enhances the convenient car experience.
This function is now more common in new energy vehicles, and some of the more aggressive new energy vehicles even cancel the start button and activate the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal after getting into the car; BYD may have kept the physical start button in order to take care of some owners who have just transitioned from fuel cars. This function is more like an upgraded version of keyless entry/one-button start, if users can get used to it, they don't need to activate the vehicle through the start button after turning on the function.
