Toyota Camry vs BYD Han EV, choose electric car or dual-engine hybrid?

Exterior: A collision of power and elegance

As two different products of the automobile industry, Han EV and Camry both show the mark of the times with their unique design language. The front part of the car adopts a closed front layout, with the middle of the hood sinking slightly and the front section adding a chrome-plated trim strip with "Han" engraved on it, and the headlights on both sides rising diagonally to maintain a sharp and regular layout.

The Camry also incorporates sporty attributes and elegance in its appearance. The front part of the car adopts the classic under-stacked grille layout, with multiple horizontal bars across the entire front envelope and C-shaped corner profiles on both sides, the headlights have a rather sharp corner design, the blue logo in the middle is connected by a wing-like trim and blends with the headlights, and the hood is increased by several raised rib lines. The hood adds a sense of power through several raised rib lines.

The Camry's sides are outlined by a straight upward waistline that connects the front and rear door handles in a series, and the bottom of the doors are creased to show a certain sense of three-dimensionality. The rear surround has a protruding profile, and the bottom of the car is covered with a gray guard and retains the single exhaust design.

Interior: Han EV and Camry are very practical

As the flagship model of BYD, the center console of Han EV is covered with a large amount of soft leather material, with a glossy baked varnish panel in the middle, and the details are embellished with chrome material, and the air vents on both sides are shaped like a revolving staircase descending gradually. The center of the center console is equipped with an adaptive rotatable suspension center screen, which is responsible for almost all the interaction and adjustment functions in the car.

The interior layout of the Camry has a high degree of independence in the family. The center console is divided into clear functional partitions by a number of winding trim strips, and the countertop is also covered with soft materials that show off the texture.

The 15.6-inch center screen of Han EV has BYD's latest DiLink system built-in, which is based on Android development and has high scalability and responsiveness. The machine is equipped with GPS and multimedia functions as standard, and supports Hicar cell phone mapping, and L2 level assisted driving function can also make the driving process more secure. Camry center screen is 10.1 inches, the car application part is not its strength, but sufficient basic functions can still meet the daily practicality.

Space: Han EV is a mid-size car, but the Camry has more space

As the flagship mid-size car of the family, Han EV has 4995*1910*1495mm body parameters and 2920mm wheelbase performance. The seats in the car maintain a thick and wide seat design, with diamond stitching on the surface and "Han" embroidery on the headrests. 178cm passenger in the back row has 2 fist knee distance and 3 fingers of headroom, the rear floor to maintain a small bump, does not affect the comfort of the middle passengers.

The Camry measures 4885*1840*1455mm and has a wheelbase of 2825mm, both smaller in size than the Han EV. The seats have wide and soft padding, and the rear row also offers 2 fists of knee clearance and 4 fingers of headroom for a 178cm passenger.

The trunk of the Han EV has a high level of flatness, and although the internal space is kept in a regular layout, it can only accommodate one 24-inch and one 28-inch luggage compartment each due to the layout of the electric drive platform, and the overall volume does not support further improvement because the rear row does not support flatness. The Camry's trunk has more ample volume performance, and can easily accommodate three 20/24/28-inch luggage, while the remaining space can also be placed a lot of luggage backpack.

Power: Han EV' s driving quality is even better

The Han EV is equipped with a single 180kW (245Ps) electric motor with 350N-m torque, providing a linear acceleration with a simple push on the accelerator pedal and a high level of comfort inside the car thanks to the quiet output of the motor. The Camry's Twin Engine system consists of a 2.5L engine and an electric motor, with a combined power of 160kW. The same crisp power output and smooth, coherent connection also bring a high level of driving quality.

In the end

Han EV and Camry, as typical representatives of the old and new era, have very different design concepts in appearance, Han EV has stronger sporting attributes and avant-garde design, while Camry retains some classic elements of the fuel car era, the interior configuration is not Camry's strong point, almost meaningful in terms of function and application richness, and trunk space is Han EV' s weak point, lacking in practicality compared to Camry. The difference in power performance between the two cars is not great, but from the economic point of view, Han EV has more advantages.
