Guoxuan Hi-Tech released a 360Wh/kg semi-solid-state battery

 

Guoxuan Hi-Tech released its first semi-solid-state battery and entered the industrialization stage.

On May 28, 2022, at the 11th Science and Technology Conference of Guoxuan High-tech, Guoxuan released two new products - 360Wh/kg semi-solid-state battery and Yi Jia Dian intelligent mobile energy storage charging pile.

The former will be installed in vehicles soon, and the latter has been signed with multiple partners.

The cooperation of VW Guoxuan, which is of great interest to the industry, is also continuing to advance. VW has already participated in the daily management of Guoxuan Hi-Tech and supported the improvement of its processes and standards. At present, the ternary and lithium iron standard cells developed by Guoxuan High-tech have been ordered by VW.

360Wh/kg semi-solid state battery will be installed in vehicles this year

At present, this battery can pass the 180℃ 30min hot box test which is higher than the national standard.

The first generation of a semi-solid-state battery of Guoxuan High-tech can pass the 1mm penetration pinprick, and the second generation can pass the 5mm penetration pinprick test.

This battery will be installed in vehicles this year. The battery has a range of 1,000 kilometers with an energy density of 260Wh/kg and an acceleration time of 3.9 seconds per 100 kilometers.

Zhang Hongli, executive vice president of Guoxuan High-tech Engineering Research Institute, said that 400Wh/Kg ternary semi-solid-state battery has prototype samples in the company's laboratory. In the future, it will also accelerate the transition of liquid batteries to a semi-solid state through technological innovation to silicon-based anode iteration, lithium metal anode, and pre-lithium technology, and finally, realize an all-solid-state.

Guoxuan also revealed that a larger production line for semi-solid-state batteries is still under construction and is scheduled to go into production in the first half of next year.

Lithium iron phosphate + JTM

At last year's technology conference, Guoxuan Hi-Tech released JTM ((jelly-roll to the module, core to the module, cancel the cell shell) technology and 210Wh/kg lithium iron phosphate battery, but at that time were laboratory products, now these technologies have entered the industrialization stage.

This time, Guoxuan Hi-Tech is successfully grafting this cell and JTM battery and industrializing them. According to Xu Xingwu, senior vice president of Guoxuan High-tech, the cell to be announced has a capacity of 47Ah, a weight of 710g, and an the energy density of 210Wh/kg, and the energy density of the battery pack with JTM technology reaches 180Wh/kg.


According to Guoxuan High-tech, a LiFePO4 battery can achieve such a high energy density due to the significant optimization of the cathode material.

Through doping modification and structural design, Guoxuan Hi-Tech has continuously improved its gram capacity and compacted density, which has now reached 152mAh/g and 2.55g/cc.

Secondly, thick electrode technology is adopted. Thick electrode technology is an important mAIONs to significantly improve the energy density of batteries. However, the problem of a conductive network of the thick electrode must be solved. By designing a three-dimensional conductive network, Guoxuan High-tech can significantly improve the energy density of the battery and reduce the resistivity of the thick electrode, while taking into account the high energy density and power characteristics.


Of course, to solve the first effect problem, pre-lithiation technology is also necessary.

CXG continues to explore the potential of lithium iron phosphate batteries. According to the technology roadmap of lithium iron phosphate energy density improvement, Guoxuan Gaoke will launch 220Wh/kg cells in 2022 and 260Wh/kg by 2030.

In addition, paired with JTM technology, Guoxuan GaoKe has launched the Leishi power exchange technology. JTM technology's battery cells are very suitable for secondary use, so they are "designed for secondary use".

There is not much introduction about this battery exchange 0technology but only mentions that it is a new business model integrating charging, exchanging and0 storage. This product currently has a batch of orders and will be on the new car announcement directory in the near future.

Mobile Energy Storage Charging Pile

In addition to the battery, Guoxuan Hi-Tech also released a mobile energy storage charging pile, with a single unit price of 350,000 RMB.

Yi Jia Dian intelligent mobile energy storage charging pile is independently developed by Guoxuan GaoKe, and the product features an easy layout, multiple scenes, large capacity, and high power.

According to Xie Faqiang, general manager of Anhui Easy Plus Energy (a subsidiary of Guoxuan), there are three scenarios for future electric vehicle charging, the first one is the most common fixed pile charging, the second one is the recently promoted exchange station, and the third one is mobile energy storage charging.


Mobile energy storage charging has three major advantages: from the perspective of electricity consumption, charging is free from the constraints of the grid, achieves peak and valley reduction, and reduces the load on the grid, making charging safer and more secure; from the perspective of the site, charging breaks through the space limitations, no infrastructure construction, more flexible deployment; from the application scenario, breaking the limitations of thinking, that is, charging piles and energy storage stations, economic benefits directly doubled.

To illustrate its economy, Xie Faqiang calculated an account: Take a shopping mall or hospital as an example, investing in a small 2MW energy storage station, first of all, it is difficult to find a site in the city, and it is also difficult to pass the fire approval. If you use EJAD products, you can put exactly 10 units, which can be moved by themselves and put in any corner; the single unit is less than 200 degrees, with strong affinity, decentralized deployment, and high security; it becomes independent piles to make up for the lack of the number of charging piles. Combining charging and energy storage, the cost can be recovered in 4~5 years.

The industry is very concerned about the cooperation between Guoxuan and Volkswagen. During the meeting, Frank Engel, Executive Vice President of Volkswagen Group (China), introduced the cooperation between Volkswagen and Guoxuan in detail, Frank Engel believed that Guoxuan Hi-Tech is one of the important strategic partners of Volkswagen Group and the technology partner of Volkswagen Seltsgitter Plant. Volkswagen is both a shareholder, an advisor, and a customer of GrandTrend.

Information given by Guoxuan shows that the total number of Volkswagen Guoxuan joint project teams exceeds one hundred, which has fully covered the functions of the electric core, manufacturing process, project management, quality, testing, etc. The ternary and lithium iron standard cells developed by Guoxuan High-tech have all been ordered by the public.

At present, in addition to further deepening its technology in the battery field, Guoxuan Hi-Tech has also started to lay out in the charging and switching field. Recently, the trend of battery companies extending upstream and downstream to the industry chain has become more and more obvious. Under the trend of power exchange, battery enterprises start to take the initiative to launch standardized battery products. It is believed that in the future, we will see more products and layouts in the charging and switching field from Guoxuan High-tech.
